The City of Dade City is an incorporated municipality and a political subdivision of the State of Florida. The legislative branch of the city government is composed of five (5) Commissioners elected at-large including a Mayor who is elected by the City Commission. City Commissioners are elected for staggered four (4)-year terms of office.

Under the provisions of the adopted City Charter, Dade City operates under the City Commission-City Manager form of government and is recognized by the International City/County Management Association (ICMA).

Scott Black, Mayor
 
Commissioner Scott Black is a lifetime resident of the Dade City/Trilby area and has been married to Laura for over 20 years and has one son. Commissioner Black is a full-time Insurance Agent.

Commissioner Black was elected as a City Commissioner in Group 1 on April 10, 1990 and has been re-elected for five terms, four of those unopposed. He served as Mayor from May 9, 2000 until April 2004 and previously served as Mayor Pro-Tem for eight years. Commissioner Black was re-elected on April 11, 2006 and was selected to serve again as Mayor in April 2008.

Steve Van Gorden, Mayor Protem
 

Commissioner Steve Van Gorden came to the Dade City area in 1998 from Tampa. Commissioner Van Gorden and Jennifer have been married for over nine years and have two children. Commissioner Van Gorden is currently Principal at Hudson Middle School.

Commissioner Van Gorden was elected as a City Commissioner in Group 4 on April 13, 2004 and re-elected on April 8, 2008. He was appointed Mayor Protem on May 9, 2006.

Curtis Beebe, Commissioner
 
Curtis Beebe is a Florida native, a product of public schools and a graduate of The University of West Florida in Pensacola. He and his wife of over twenty years, Rebecca, moved to Dade City from Tampa in 1998. Rebecca teaches fifth grade at Pasco Elementary School and they have three teenaged sons.

Commissioner Beebe was elected as a City Commissioner in Group 3 on April 8, 2008.

Eunice M. Penix, Commissioner
 
Commissioner Eunice M. Penix is a lifetime resident of Dade City. Commissioner Penix was married to Morris Penix for over 34 years and has two daughters and two grandchildren. Commissioner Penix is a retired school teacher.

Commissioner Penix was appointed as a City Commissioner in Group 5 on August 24, 1993, and has been re-elected for five terms, four of those unopposed. She was re-elected on April 8, 2008.

Camille Hernandez, Commissioner
 

Commissioner Camille Hernandez came to the Dade City area in 1992 from West Pasco.  Commissioner Hernandez and Dr. David Hernandez have been married for over 18 years and have four children.

Commissioner Hernandez was elected as a City Commissioner in Group 2 on April 11, 2006.
