Michigan native David W. “Dave” Duff began his law enforcement career with the Holly (Michigan) Police Department in 1976, serving his home community as a dispatcher and Police Officer for over four years. After moving to Texas in 1981, he completed the Texas Police Officers Academy and worked at the Columbus and Lake Jackson Police Departments.
In 1984, he relocated to Florida and began his career with the Dade City Police Department in the Communications Division as an Emergency Services Operator. After obtaining his Florida Law Enforcement Certification, Dave transferred to the Uniform Patrol Division as a Police Officer. In that division, he rose through the ranks from Corporal to Sergeant and then, Operations Lieutenant. In 1991, he was awarded the Veterans of Foreign Wars Police Officer of the Year.
In his current position as Captain, Dave is second in command of the Dade City Police Department. His numerous certifications include that of Traffic Homicide Investigator, Field Training Officer, and a State of Florida certified Firefighter. Dave is also a graduate of the prestigious Command Officer Management School at Saint Leo University.
