DEPARTMENT SUMMARY
The Dade City Police Department is made up of four (4) divisions: Administration, Services, Operations and Communications. Responsibilities include; detection and prevention of criminal activity and the arrest and apprehension of criminals. Provide radio dispatch service to the Police Department, and to Public Works during after hours operations. Provide ongoing training to all employees; recruit, train and retain qualified applicants. Perform community based programs throughout the community in an effort to educate the citizens on the prevention of crime. Provide 24 hour per day patrol and dispatch service. Investigate reported criminal activity. Submit an annual budget request to the City Manager. Provide security for the annual civic events that occur throughout the year in the City. Provide school crossing guards for four (4) crossings in the City. The Chief of Police is directly responsible for the everyday operation of the Police Department and answers directly to the City Manager.

The Dade City Police Department has been entrusted with the mission of protecting and serving all residents, visitors, businesses, and property owners coming within the department's jurisdiction. In partnership with the citizens of Dade City, the Police Department seeks to provide timely and professional emergency assistance, uphold public safety, and protect life and property. Our mission is to serve all residents, visitors and business owners in a fair and prudent manner.

MAJOR DEPARTMENTAL FUNCTIONS

    a)  Oversee patrol functions (3 sergeants and 9 patrol officers)
    b)  Community policing officers (3 officers)
    c)  School resource officers (1 officer and 1 community policing officer)
